for
Clinical Pastoral Education in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
to the Riverside Center for Excellence in Aging and Lifelong Health (CEALH) in conjunction with the Riverside Regional Medical Center Pastoral Care Department to implement a program entitled Spiritual Care Using Clinical Pastoral Education in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program is the first offered in the region and benefits local clergy. Seminarians, community clergy, and endorsed lay persons, who have had to gain training in Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia or Richmond. Approximately 3600 clinical hours are available for 12 interns per year. Each intern will visit three individuals per hour. Sites for visiting individuals include hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living. This means that 10,800 more people would receive the benefit of spiritual care in an underserved area.

In 2011, the Robert B. Lantz Foundation began offering a series of educational workshops lead by faculty from the Medical College of Virginia. The workshops were geared to the needs of clergy and health care professionals and were provided free of charge.
One workshop discussed "Care of the Caregiver" and was conducted on October 29, 2011 in Rappahannock, VA.
Faculty experts from the Medical College of Virginia led the workshops and facilitated discussions.
